Mon livre «Ferdinan into the unknow» met l’accent sur le tour du monde de Ferdinan (sans «d» en catalan) Magellan et son dernier voyage vers l’inconnu afin de prouver que la terre est ronde (1519).

Le livre est usé, a des défauts, a passé entre plusieurs mains, comme le journal d’Antonio Pigafetta sans doute, celui qui a colligé toute l’information pendant l’entièreté du voyage.

Dans mon livre, la mer a cinq niveaux, en lien avec les cinq bateaux au départ de l’expédition. Sur chacun des niveaux, des petites informations sur le voyage, des images de gravures anciennes, des dessins en lien avec les cartes d’Antonio Pigafetta et finalement une représentation de tous les hommes décédés (environ 232 marins).

Sur le volet du centre, le point rouge représente Magellan, mort au combat six mois avant le retour. Un seul bateau est revenu à son point de départ pour prouver que la terre était ronde mais avec à bord seulement quelques survivants de cette aventure incroyable.

Les situations les plus diverses ont eu lieu lors de ce voyage. On retrouve des marins affamés, des batailles internes et sur le terrain, des mutineries, etc. Ils ont combattu pour coloniser des terres pour l’Espagne et pour leur propre survie sur une période de trois ans.

My book “Ferdinan into the unknow” focuses on the world tour of Ferdinan (without “d” in Catalan) Magellan and his last journey into the unknown in order to prove that the earth is round.

The book is worn out, has flaws, passed into several hands, as the diary of Antonio Pigafetta, the one who collected all the information throughout the trip.

In my book, the sea has five levels, related to the five ships from the expedition. On each one, you will find that name of one of the boats, little information about the journey, pictures of old engravings, drawing patterns related to the maps of Antonio Pigafetta and finally a representation of all the deceased men.

On the centre side, the red dot represents Magellan, who died in action six months before his return. Only one boat has returned to its starting point to prove that the earth is round, but with only a few survivors of this incredible adventure on board.

The most varied situations took place during this trip. We find starving sailors, internal and field battles, mutiny, etc. They fought to colonize lands for Spain and for their own survival over a period of three years.

It's hard to imagine such an adventure today
